Book Review: Fangirl – The Manga – Book 1 by Sam Maggs and Gabi Nam

A few weeks ago I read and reviewed Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, one of the first books on The Ultimate Reading List. Later, in one of my many aimless library browses, I found the first book of a manga version and picked it up for a half-hour read. Normally I wouldn’t write a whole post about a quick, random book, but since I just wrote about the original, I thought it would be fun to compare the two.

Ultimate Reading List Book Review: Incredible Doom by Matthew Bogart and Jesse Holden

After finding that no upcoming books on my gigantic reading list were available at my local library, I placed holds on a bunch of them and they call came in at the same time. So I’ve been busy trying to read five books simultaneously.

As of now, I have finished Incredible Doom, a brand-new graphic novel co-authored by Matthew Bogart and Jesse Holden. I recently did my first graphic novel review on Words on Key, so this’ll be the second.

Book Review: Stargazing by Jen Wang

This book isn’t part of my Ultimate Reading List, but I do have a book on it by the same author (The Prince and the Dressmaker). The other day I went to a library for the first time in over a year and let me tell you… libraries are AMAZING! Unfortunately, none of the next books on my list were available, but I found some others including this one.

Reading List Book Review: Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt

Right after publishing the last post, in which I explained I had lost this book right before finishing it, I found it and read the last chapters right away. Although I’m off to a much slower start than I hoped, I have finished the first book on my reading list. Here are my thoughts about it.

Reading List: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

If you remember from my 200-book Reading List (in which case, I’m very impressed), the first book was Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt, and the second was Simon v.s. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

I read Tuck Everlasting for the first week of summer, and was just about to finish it when I lost it. I didn’t take it anywhere, so I know I have it somewhere, but after searching for weeks I decided to move on for now. Earlier, I had placed a hold for Simon v.s. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, but it’s a very popular book, and there was like a 45-person wait list. I don’t have current access to The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel, although it’s another one I am excited to read, so the next book on my list is Fangirl.

Now as I figure you probably skimmed or skipped past that paragraph, the point is the next book I will read is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell because I have it available.

As you might see based on the title and cover, this book is about Cath, who writes fanfiction for a book series she is obsessed with. It was published in 2013, is 483 pages long and is considered a young-adult novel. I’ll write a review for it when I finish — hopefully I can actually keep track of it this time.

Summer Reading (otherwise known as My Eight-Page List of To-Be-Reads)

With school soon to go out and a stretch of three months with hopefully very few Zoom meetings, of course I will be doing my two favorite things: reading and writing. What better way to waste time than handwrite an eight-page list of two hundred books I want to read but never will get to?

Well, I definitely won’t with that attitude. So I guess we’re just seeing how many I can read this summer, and then the fall, and then the winter. After writing my list, I put them in a random order. Here it is.
